AIM's boutique publishing business, Management Press, has launched She Said What?, a book which will deliver messages of inspiration, hope and courage to help guide women through the obstacles they face in the workplace today.
She Said What? celebrates the tenth anniversary of AIM's International Women's Day Debate, with each contributor to the book a previous participant of the iconic annual event.
"This book contains inspirational thoughts, messages and learnings from business women who work in interesting, eclectic, high powered and complex organisations," said Chief Executive Officer of AIM Qld & NT, Carolyn Barker AM.
"We wanted to publish a book that was full of wit and wisdom for Australian working women. We know women at all levels share and peer learn in a different way to men – while the very serious business of formal learning, coaching and genderless career growth is the norm, women also like to hear the views and thoughts of other successful women. So here they are in a compact little book that is really fun and inspiring to read."
"It is more eclectic than a dinner party, cheaper than a conference and the perfect size for your handbag."
She Said What? is co-edited by Carolyn Barker and organisational change management expert Karyn Brinkley. Contributors span from the likes of radio icon Madonna King and supreme court judge Ros Atkinson to world laughter authority Susan Brown.
Other She Said What? contributors include Australia Post's commercial state manager Helen Brodie, June Dally Watkins' Managing Director Queensland Jodie Bache-McLean, media personality Emily Jade O'Keefe and CEO Brisbane City Council Jude Munro.
She Said What? is priced at $12.95 and can be ordered through Management Books.
Management Press was established in 2003 as a publishing entity committed to producing selected works in leadership, management, innovation, strategy and people which reflect issues relevant to business.
Management Press scored a massive hit in 2007 with CATS: The Nine Lives of Innovation, a follow up to Steve Lundin's best selling global phenomenon FISH! This book was globally released out of Australia with the rights being sold back to the US for publishing in that country.
In 2006 it has collaborated with major publishers John Wiley & Sons to publish the Management @ Work series and in 2002 McGraw Hill to publish the best-selling Management Today book series.
Management Press is a subsidiary of the Australian Institute of Management – Qld
& NT and is a national publishing company based in Brisbane.
So often we forget that, as women, we all go through similar life and career experiences; that the minutiae of our everyday life is also the collective struggle for most women. The diversity of quotes in She Said What?, ranging from the words of CEOs to firefighters, showcases the wisdom and insight of women across all backgrounds. It is an important reminder of what it means to be a woman today, and serves as an incubator for the hopes and possibilities for our future. An inspiring and thought-provoking read.
